Walking football is a session run by Michael Pink at Roko health centre on Monday Mornings from 11 till 12. The session is for over 50’s and is adapted for people with all abilities to participate with an aim to get active. I’ve been attending the session and have seen a continual growth in numbers over the past few weeks. The session started in November 2014 with two participants and now has an average of eighteen regulars who arrive early every Monday, eager to kick a ball around.
As well as the exercise, walking football offers a chance to socialise with people with similar interests. Roko café is packed after the hour session, not only an opportunity to reflect on the mini matches they’ve played but also to catch up with one another. The friendly group of male and females wish to expand and welcome new members to Pompey in the Community’s walking football group, for more information email Michael.firstname.lastname@example.org .
