Pompey in the Community organised a celebration event on Friday 1 st June for young people of Somerstown to mark their first year of running the Raise Your Game programme in the city. On the day, over 45 young people aged 7 years to 18 years old participated in a range of sports sessions on offer including cage cricket, tennis, rugby, street dance, football and basketball. It was a fun day that attracted a lot of attention from local residents who enjoyed watching the kids get stuck into sports and activities that are not normally on offer to them.
Games such as Connect 4, Speed Gun Competition and King of the Court were also played during the day and prizes were on offer to be won throughout the activity. Nelson, the Portsmouth Football Club Mascot also made an appearance and joined into the competitions on the day. Nelson also managed to sneak into the Somerstown Adventure Playground and have a turn on the big slide!!
