Joshua McPheat a 17 year old from Portsmouth is running the Portsmouth Coastal half Marathon on Sunday 12th February 2017!
The half marathon will consist of 13.1 miles starting and ending up at the Pyramid centre in Portsmouth. This will be Josh’s first ever half Marathon and we are delighted to announce that he has chosen to run for Pompey in the Community!
While training for this half marathon Joshua has lost four stone in weight, this is an incredible achievement and we at Pompey in the Community are very proud of him. Josh has previously struggled with his weight and how others treated him as a result of this so losing the weight has been a huge goal of his – “I wanted to work on losing some weight to show that nasty comments will not stop me from achieving my goals”.
Pompey in the Community is close to Josh’s heart as he knows of the amazing work that the charity does within Portsmouth. In particular NCS, the National Citizen Service is particularly important to him as he was a participate on the programme in summer 2016 where he spent 4 weeks full of activities.
Joshua has a particularly amazing NCS experience – “Over the period of the programme I made so many new friends and gained so much confidence and grew so much as a person, this is why I want to give back to NCS and Pompey in the Community”.
Any donations are greatly appreciated to reach Joshua’s goal of £200, already at £30!
